I basically went through two campaigns before running away from an encounter because I forgot it was an option we didn't have (old habits I guess). Seriously, we didn't have this in the original, and when you least expected it, a lizard would jump out of a hole and end your entire match because it decided you needed to fight a kraken today. One of the more wonderful casual updates to come from the remaster is the ability to run away from random encounters. Regardless of the history of the character you play, there are some general things to keep in mind. ![]() Now that the remaster is back, it's time for revenge. ![]() I played the original with the Strategy Guide, and they still bugged me as a kid. The game does very little to hold your hand, and each random encounter could easily be your last. Some awkward translations and poorly explained mechanics aside, one of the main things that made it difficult for people to enter compared to other titles was how monstrously difficult it was compared to similar games, or games in general. ![]() All the games you should play if you haven't already). Saga Frontier, despite being an amazing game, was actually considered one of Square's weakest titles at the time (it competed with other titles of theirs like Final Fantasy 7, Final Fantasy Tactics, Parasite Eve, Brave Fencer Musashi, Xenogears, etc. I started playing Saga Frontier a long time ago when it was released on Playstation 1, in the golden age of Squaresoft (when you could throw a dart at a board with every Squaresoft game on the market and not miss a good game).
